You’ve already decked the halls at the office and outfitted your work desk for the holiday decorating contest so why not deck your Facebook wall out too? It’s always fun to reflect the changing seasons with fun designs featured in your company newsletter and holiday themed blog posts, but even more fun to take it on over to Twitter and Facebook for a few weeks too. This holiday season, skip opting for a bare bones profile and punch it up with these five fun ideas for your social media platforms.
1) For Facebook, Create a New Cover Image
From time to time, you’ll want to change out the cover image on your Facebook account to keep it from getting too stale. When you switch out the cover, it’s recorded on your timeline which is then published to the newsfeed of everyone who is friends with or follows you. Depending on the number of friends or fans your Facebook page has, this could mean a lot of eyeballs are checking you out – and “liking” what they see if the design is really cool or clever!
2) Make a Twitter Header (And Change Your Background)
The latest design feature to hit Twitter has been the option to include, in addition to your avatar and background image, another photo that appears behind your avatar – the header. My company, MyCorporation.com, recently switched out our signature pale blue and white Twitter background in favor of an all new background design featuring incorporation filing folders and a color coordinating header behind our company logo. You can include a new design or keep it simple with colors only for the header – be creative but not distracting from what your company does.
3) Get Some Videos Cranking on YouTube!
Show everyone on Twitter and Facebook (and via email) how you and your office celebrates the holiday season on your company YouTube channel with singalong videos, dance contests, and jingle contests made up on the spot and recorded that get the whole team laughing together. And if you don’t have a YouTube channel, make one today!
4) Encourage Followers to Check Out Your Instagram
Highlight the company Christmas party or adventures in creating gingerbread houses in under 30 minutes on Instagram with photos of the whole office gang. Share the photos and your handle on Facebook and Twitter and encourage fans to follow you there.
5) And Remember – Always Stay Engaged!
It’s never fun to be the one watching the little kid get all of the presents and you only have much less than they do. Engage your followers by asking them questions and getting their answers back on Facebook and Twitter while still showing off what your office is up to. And always reply back to fans of your Facebook or Twitter pages when you can – it’s always great to hear back from the company too!
